Plasma

The plasma spray process involves injecting a thermal spray material into a plasma jet created by ionizing a gas stream as it passes through an electric arc and propelling the molten particles onto the substrate material, rapidly cooling to form a high quality dense coating. Typical coatings include ceramics, carbides and metallics.

Features and Benefits - Plasma Spray

Ability to apply a wide variety of materials

Benefit: Can optimize material selection for operating condition requirements

Ability to heat high melting point materials

Benefit: Can apply high corrosion resistant ceramic coatings – useful for applications requiring de-electric or thermal barrier properties.
